Big Problem for Canon Mirrorless R5 in 2021

Canon has some big plans in 2021 and has established a brilliant roadmap. After some new models in 2020, we get to see some new lens and camera for the photographer’s community. However, there are some serious issues which the company need to fix. If not, then the Canon roadmap in 2021, will be a serious disaster. This article tells you what the disaster is and how you can be aware of it.

Canon Rumors recently reported the Canon Roadmap 2021. The camera giant has big plans for the coming year with more RF lenses and some cool camera too. For canon users, good times are bound to continue all throughout the year. Now, coming to the major issue that no one wants to acknowledge is that the new announcements of lens is meaningless, unless few fixes are done. The simple fact is that there are scores of people around the world twiddling their thumbs while waiting for delivery of their Canon EOS R5.

Canon Delivery Problems

The problem that most people are facing are extreme amount of delays. It is not just weeks, but delivery is happening in months. Canon EOS R5 ordered in first week of October is simply loosing fading away with no updates from the vendors during mid-October. Frankly, with the Covid-19 situation, it hard to blame the vendors. But Canon should have been more careful with fulfilling customer expectations.

Moreover, digital third-party payments methods are being charged more for online ordering. The image above tells you how B&H Photo Video is handling their purchase and delivery system and charging the customers extra when using third-part payment system. The image shows that the camera is backordered.

Canon Backorders

Vendors like Diamonds Camera in Australia also using a similar technique, where customers are facing a huge problem.

In Japan, Map Camera, who is the biggest vendor in Tokyo also has the problem of Backorder.

Thus, it is not just the problem of one vendor, but vendors across the world. The problem lies in the fact that RF lenses cannot be used on an EF mount body. So, if you own a Canon 5D Mark IV, you will not be able to do anything about the RF lenses. There are also no adapter available whereby you will put the RF lens into 7D Mark II camera. Thus, when ordering Canon EOS R5, you also need to order some extra lens like RF 100-500mm or RF 800mm.

Canon EOS R5 Problems

Thus, it is better to see what camera you have and what lens you and use with it before actually getting excited for Canon EOS R5. This is a genuine problem which the company refuses to acknowledge. Moreover, Canon announced the launch of EOS R6 in August this year.

On the whole 2021 looks extremely good for Canon users. Many new RF lenses are in the pipeline and many more exciting news to come. However, there are no issues relating to EOS R5s every after three months of release. It is really pointless when you have new lenses but no mechanism to attach it to your camera body. We hope Canon soon solves this problem with some new releases for the next year.
